Andrew O’Connor
I am a creative and versatile communications professional with proven expertise in audiovisual content production, project management and campaign strategy.
I'm looking for work which allows me room to be creative, to develop good ideas and to make a positive contribution to the world. I'm looking to work within a friendly, dynamic and energetic team who are driven to produce the very best work through our collective endeavours.
I'm comfortable working across the Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, Audition and InDesign), I've previously overseen and delivered numerous projects including producing, directing and editing international documentaries in multiple languages, running participatory video and photo projects, producing bespoke animated explainers, producing product trailers, and developing commercial and charity partnerships for products and programming channels. I’ve even turned a wall into a big touch screen and projection-mapped a mannequin to look like an ethereal feminist superhero (think Dr Manhattan meets the Silver Surfer meets Rosa Luxembourg). I love working with new and emerging software and hardware, exploring how they work, learning new skills, harnessing data and analytics and integrating them into a professional setting. I've managed brands, developed brands and sub-brands, packaged and marketing products, designed posters, reports, briefing notes, marketing materials and logos, and worked on countless pieces of audiovisual content from end-to-end in multiple languages and formats.
Below you'll be able to find out a bit more about my professional experience and previous roles.

Previous Job Roles
Saferworld - Audiovisual Communications Coordinator
May 2022 – Present | London
I lead communications for the development and production of all audiovisual content, oversee brand and sub-brand management and manage the creation and monitoring of all subsequent collateral materials. I work with programme teams across 12 countries to identify stories and develop compelling audiovisual content to support Saferworld’s communications strategy and wider advocacy objectives. Central to this production process is the implementation of ethical content gathering guidance, which is an area of work I spearheaded. I work with programme managers and our research team to produce and design publications for digital and print, and produce content for three in-house podcast channels with a mix of in-person and remote recording. I have extensive experience with photo and video documentary content production in fragile and conflict-affected settings which has prepared me well for high pressure, dynamic and fast paced production environments.
STOP THE TRAFFIK - Communications Project Officer
Feb 2021 – May 2022 | London
I oversaw the creation of content for campaigns and resources; designed and published research reports, fundraising campaigns and project proposals. My role included handling incoming communications, delegating queries to relevant departments, maintaining donor and volunteer relationships, processing donations, curating newsletter content, coordinating press and media engagement and occasionally offering grant writing support.
The Old Market - Marketing Officer
Feb 2018 - Feb 2021 | Brighton
Due to the small nature of the venue, my responsibilities within this role included: pint and digital marketing, project management, key strategic relationship development, audience development, technological development, bookings and risk assessments, web building, brand and benefit scheme development, maintaining and developing key press relationships, planning and delivering exclusive member and high value donor events, copywriting for PR, blog content and shows and social media management.
Brighton Journal - Senior Journalist & Social Media and Website Manager
Jun 2017 - Jan 2018 | Brighton
I worked as a lead journalist for this digital media outlet researching and writing about local news, identifying, building, and developing advertiser relationships, and managing social media channels.
The Ginger Dog - Kitchen Porter
Oct 2016 - May 2017 | Brighton
Whilst this role doesn’t directly relate to the professional skill-set required for the kinds of work I'm currently seeking, I believe it demonstrates my willingness to roll my sleeves up, work hard, and develop efficient systems within high-pressure environments.
